In this workshop, participants will be trained to use the Phonemic Awareness program written by Dr Michael Heggerty. This workshop has been designed for participants who are new to the program or have only recently begun implementation.

The program "Phonemic Awareness: The Skills That They Need to Help Them Succeed!" provides daily teacher-led oral word play activities to help students develop the decoding skills essential to become proficient readers.

Outcomes include:

• Gain an in-depth understanding of the 10 Phonemic Awareness skills.
• Application of learned skills through a guided practice with a complete lesson.
• Ideas for using the curriculum in an intervention setting.
• How to monitor student progress with the Phonemic Awareness skills through assessments and authentic student writing.
